Hautelook.com haul!

Hey y'all! just wanted to share my haul I got from Hautelook.com on a bunch of products from NYX cosmetics. : D I heard of Hautelook.com through a friend on tumblr and I decided to try them out. So far, I am pretty happy with the result! I got a NYX make-up kit for $18 when I believe that they normal go for around $35-$40 and I got the NYX glosses for a total of $18 dollars as well when each individual box goes for around $6-8 a piece. So I guess I saved around $6-$14 dollars for the whole group.

The only thing that kind of sucks about the site is that it takes almost 2 weeks before they ship the product. I don't know why that is, it might just be because they are waiting for the sale to end or who knows why else, but, for me atleast, if I am going to get a really good deal on something, I can wait a little longer for the product to arrive. The only other issue I had was that my NYX palette had a BUNCH of pink dust inside of it because one of the blush palettes came loose and was flying around in there. BUT, the blush didn't break, so that's good. Overall though, that doesn't bother me as its pretty typical for palettes to come loose in these sort of things. So whatever, it took some clean up, but I'm not upset about it.

I read that they really don't have the greatest customer service, but again, I didn't have any issues so I really don't know. O: I am going to provide y'all with my invite code, so if you decide that you want to try them out, then you can sign up through me. :3

They have new sales every day and they only last a few days, like a week tops, so if you see a brand you really like, its best to jump on the sale as soon as possible. There was some other NYX stuff I wanted but I joined late and the things I would of liked were already sold out.

Alrighty, so on to the pics!

First of all, I bought a BUNCH of little lip glosses because they were all so adorable! I will never ever use this much lip gloss in my life, but they were really cheap on the site, so I just bought all the ones they had available. I'll probably end up giving away a few to family but I have to pick which ones I like the best first. X3 I like these glosses because not only do they smell nice and look cute but they are also tinted. I never liked buying glosses when I was younger and having them look like they were a certain color in the tube/container and to find out that they applied clear. So, almost all of these have some sort of color.

Photobucket

Here they are in their boxes:
Photobucket

Photobucket
The 1st set of cupcake glosses.

Photobucket
The second set of cupcake glosses

Photobucket
The pie glosses

Photobucket
The fruit glosses, my favorites!

Here's come close-ups of the glosses themselves.

Photobucket
The fruit ones, in case you couldn't tell, the flavors/colors are pear (clear), orange (orange), apple (red) and peach (pink)

Photobucket
1st set of cupcake glosses. The light brown topped one is banana (believe it or not) and is a yellowish gloss. The pink one is strawberry and is, of course, pink. The one with the blue flower is Vanilla and is a sparkly white. And the White topped one is Apple and is a dark pink.

Photobucket
Second set of cupcake glosses. The swirly one is Orange (color and flavor lol, although a much darker orange than the fruit one). The strawberry topped one is Strawberry and is kind of a neon pink. The white one with the dark brown blob on top is a Chocolate flavored one and is clear. And the one with the white frosting and a cherry on top is Cherry and is bright red.

Photobucket
The pie glosses. The pink topped pie is Strawberry again and is light pink. The holly topped one is Chocolate, but the color is orange, which is really strange to me XD. And the sprinkled one is Cherry and is red.

Alrighty, now on to the NYX Make-up artist kit palette! :D

Photobucket

Photobucket
I just wanted to show the size, because I seriously thought that it was going to be pretty small, like half or even a quarter of what I actually received. So, least to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. : D

Photobucket
First level, which is the shadows

Photobucket
Bottom level which is the bronzers, blush, and lip gloss. Also, the applicators. There is a lip brush, 2 eye shadow apllicators and mini blush brush in there. This is where you can see the pink powder everywhere that I was talking about X3. I only cleaned it up minimally for the photo, so its bunched in the corners and stuff still.

Photobucket
And the whole thing together. You can see it also has a little mirror attached as well. : D

Overall, I have to say that I am really happy with this! I'm going to experiment with my new shadows soon and show you all some new stuff. Probably next week though as I have a really awful cold right now and I don't want to be taking pics of or video taping my awful red, runny nose. X3

So, see y'all soon! <3

WOW! I'm back!

Hey everyone! I am finally back in business! I'm sorry for such a long hiatus. Life got in the way and I was also waiting for a number of things to occur before I started posting again. Now, all of those events have happened, so here I am.

Anyway! I have a Valentine's Day look for all of you!:

I'll be back in January!

Hey All! So, I ended up taking a much longer hiatus than planned, but thats alright because I'll be back better than ever. :3

I just started a new job so I have been really busy with that, plus I took some time to relax after a very busy semester at school and enjoyed some quality time with family and friends. :3

I have a new camera, which I am planning to use to make videos for this blog. I just need a tripod and a few other things which I will have to purchase once I get paid again.

So, I will see y'all in January for sure! : D

MIA for a little while!

Hey all! Sorry for the lack of updates! I am in the final bend of school (which ends on December 9th, then followed by finals week) so I have been super busy trying to get everything ready! So, it might just be another week until you see an update from me. Sorry about that! Also, hopefully at that time, my brand-spankin' new digital SLR will arrive, so I will have really nice pics then. It also takes 1080p HD video, so perhaps I can get back to making some videos again as well. (Once I figure out some sort of lighting situation)

Thank you so much for your continued patronage and I hope you all had a lovely, yummy and safe holiday!

Blue and Purple Smokey Eye

Hey all! Sorry about the long period between updates! School is getting close to the end of the semester, so I've been super busy! BUT NEVER FEAR, I am here now!

Someone had asked me to do a type of smokey eye, so I decided to try that out this week. It's not your typical smokey eye as it has blue and purple in it. This look is really simple and easy to put together! Here is the look:

Photobucket

As always, be sure to prep your eye with whatever eyeshadow base you apply. It helps make the color more vivid. Once you are finished prepping the eye, take your blue (afterparty shown here) and apply it on the first half of your lid.

Photobucket

Then take your purple (poison plum shown) and add it to the remaining portion of your lid, into the crease and under your lower lash line. Be sure to take a clean brush and blend the edges!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Apply eyeliner (black is preferable) on the top lid only. Then take a black shadow (bulletproof shown) and apply it along both the upper and lower lash line and into the crease.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Lastly, I take a white shadow (tako shown) and apply it directly under my eyebrows and into the tearduct. Then i take a white eyeliner pencil and apply under the eye. Apply mascara and you re down with the eyes!

Photobucket

For the rest of the face, I apply a rosy blush and just a light pink gloss to the lips. The eyes should be the focus of this look! Now you're done! Like I said, so simple!

On another note:
I had to take a self portrait for my drawing class, so I decided to take a picture of myself with really colorful makeup. I was inspired by peacock feathers. I might do a more toned down version of this later on. Enjoy!

Halloween!

So, I just wanted to update and show the whole outfit for you all! I'm not sure if I am going to do another look this weekend, so hopefully this will suffice until next week! O:

Anyway, here is my whole "geisha" outfit that I wore at two parties this weekend.

Photobucket

As I mentioned before, i got the kimono (its technical name is furisode) on Ebay almost 2 years ago and had not had a chance to wear it until now. I also got the obi (the belt-like part) on Ebay, I had bid 99 cents on it and actually won! I didn't really have anything that matched it, but hey, you cant complain with the price. I found that the color actually went really well with the kimono and the green parts. :3

Here is what the back looks like:

And here is more detail on the obi:

And last but not least, the makeup close up : D Someone mentioned to me that my makeup was very close to one of Michelle Phan's. I had just heard of her a little before the last post but had not looked at any of her stuff yet. I looked at it and it was similar. I liked how she did the orchids, so I ended up using that bit of her tutorial by adding a flower to my hair :3

Some of the pics I took after the party, so the makeup might look a little smudged D:

Halloween Makeup 2: Geisha Doll

Hello again! Time for the second round of Halloween make-up! : D Sorry, for it being a tad late, I was waiting for some new makeup to arrive and it finally did today!

Anyway, this is the makeup I will actually be wearing myself this year! I have 3 kimonos in my possession and I practice Kitsuke (the art of wearing kimono), but alas, it has been awhile. D: So, I wanted to find an excuse to wear them again and what better excuse than Halloween! : D

This is the lovely I will be wearing, it is the first time I will be wearing it! O: It's a Furisode which is the most expensive type of kimono because they are often the most intricate , but I got it for a bargain some time ago.

Photobucket

And here is the look! Again, all of this was done with like 99% Sugarpill. I totally seem like a stalker by now XD

Photobucket

So, let's get started!

Face Prep:
For this one, you really need your face to be as pale as possible. I did not want to cake my face with white halloween make-up, so I opted to try something different. First of all, I do not really wear foundation. I have relatively clear skin and I am pretty pale, so I really don't need much to cover up. So, for me, I just applied my normal face powder first as a base. Then I took Tako and used my large brush to apply it to my face. Then I took my NYX eyeshadow base and applied it to my eyes and lips. We want a full white face here peeps! O:

Here is my uggs self (without makeup) before and after all white application. I swear, no matter how much it looks it, this is not a mugshot! lol:
Photobucket

MOVING ON

Eye Makeup:
The first I do is take Dollipop and apply it to the whole outer portion of the eye, both on top of the eye and underneath it. There isn't any real logic to this, I'm just mostly doing what I feel looks good and dramatic:

Photobucket

Here's both eyes:
Photobucket

Then I take Love+ and feather is out from the corner of my eye and somewhat underneath the eye as well, like so:

Photobucket
Photobucket

Then I take a small amount of Buttercupcake and apply it near the tear duct on the upper and lower lid:

Photobucket

Next, I apply my liquid eyeliner in a feathered/cats eye shape. I also take Bulletproof and accentuate that feather:

Liner:

And shadow:

Lastly, I add my falsies and the eyes are done! :D

Photobucket

Also, since I will be wearing a black wig (which is not in my possession yet) and I have naturally blonde hair, I need to have my eyebrows match. So, I take a eyebrow pencil and fill in my brows. Next, I take Bulletproof again and ever so lightly apply the black shadow on top. This is what it looks like before and after:

Photobucket

Lips:
Typically, the Japanese view very small lips as sexy. Therefore, the Geisha typically only fill in a portion of their lips when they apply their makeup. I want to do the same here. You can fill in as little or as much as you like, this was just my personal preference. I take my lipstick brush and I apply OCC's Demure to all of my bottom lip but only a portion of my top lip. Think of doll lips and how they often look the same way.

I picked Demure because it picks up on the pink in my eyes. But, I also add NSFW on top in the inner portion to give it a little depth. The end result looks like this:

Photobucket

Retouch areas that might of been smudged or need more definition and you are all done! Here are some more pics of the final result:

I will be sure to add pics of the whole look when I do it for real this weekend! : D
