Halloween!

So, I just wanted to update and show the whole outfit for you all! I'm not sure if I am going to do another look this weekend, so hopefully this will suffice until next week! O:

Anyway, here is my whole "geisha" outfit that I wore at two parties this weekend.

As I mentioned before, i got the kimono (its technical name is furisode) on Ebay almost 2 years ago and had not had a chance to wear it until now. I also got the obi (the belt-like part) on Ebay, I had bid 99 cents on it and actually won! I didn't really have anything that matched it, but hey, you cant complain with the price. I found that the color actually went really well with the kimono and the green parts. :3

Here is what the back looks like:

And here is more detail on the obi:

And last but not least, the makeup close up : D Someone mentioned to me that my makeup was very close to one of Michelle Phan's. I had just heard of her a little before the last post but had not looked at any of her stuff yet. I looked at it and it was similar. I liked how she did the orchids, so I ended up using that bit of her tutorial by adding a flower to my hair :3

Some of the pics I took after the party, so the makeup might look a little smudged D:

If you all have any requests for looks, then don't be shy and let me know! Thanks! : D

  1. the kimono is making you look fat. and the wig is very messy. ur eyebrows are thin and uneven, and should have atleast been trimmed. and you should have atleast used red instead of pink, the color clash is seriously not working in ur favor and it brings out the (already obvious) bags under ur eyes.

sorry, this had to be said. Because non of those pictures are actually making you look attractive.

  2. Dear anonymous,

Did you take into consideration that maybe I am a little on the chubbier side? So the kimono making me look fat issue, well, not much can be done about that. I got my eyebrows done about 3 weeks ago. I did use some red, but I like pink better. And unfortunately, the bags under my eyes is pure genetics. They were about 100x's worse when I was a child.

The fact of the matter is that despite all of the things you said, I like the way I look and don't really care if you do or not. Thus, why I published your comment when I could of just marked it as spam.

No one is perfect and we, as people (yourself included), should start embracing people for who they are, not for their downfalls. Have a nice day!

  5. Other Anonymous (lol),

Yeah, my shorter sleeve kimono have the rig on them where I can pull down the collar and secure it. This one does not... yet. I totally need to get on that X3

I tried to pull it back and keep it there, but without that rig, it just slips. D:

  6. WOW! Talk about not being able to take criticism well.

FYI you're not that chubby, but the kimono does look most unfaltering to your figure. You should consider altering it.

  7. Liz,

I don't think it's a manner of not taking criticism well. Whomever posted the comment (I don't think it was you since your vernacular/spelling is different. Alas, it was anonymous so I never really know) was just being rude for the sake of being rude. Criticism, atleast constructive criticism, is given in a way that is respectful and offer some sort of fix for the problems mentioned, which that comment had neither.

Since you don't know me in person, you wouldn't really know if I am chubby or not. I weigh 155lbs and am only 5 feet tall, so I am about 20 lbs over where I am supposed to be. So yeah, I am a little chubby. Not fat, just chubby in areas, my stomach and butt especially lol. And I say that in a candid way, I'm not talking down on myself or anything.

Also, just as a general inquiry: I don't know how to alter a kimono that would possibly fix such an issue? Besides making it thicker, which would probably not be a good idea.
